Funny to see foreigners being enthousiastic about DAF: in Holland it was always -unrightfully- considered as an old-womans car.

When I lived in Ethiopia in the late '60's my Dad would take me on trips into the country where he was doing his field research (on nearly extinct languages). One time we saw (or rather heard) two strange cars coming into the village where we were. Turned out they were two DAFs the factory sent on a cross-Africa drive to demonstrate the toughness of the cars. Both of them had blown out (or broken) their mufflers but otherwise were running fine. DAFs weren't sold in Ethiopia as far as I know
